Waste Land

While perusing Netflix one day, I came across this extraordinary documentary about Vik Muniz and the work he did in the world’s largest garbage dump outside of Rio de Janeiro, capturing portraits of the workers who make their living sorting through the trash. Although “Waste Land” may no longer be in theaters, I highly recommend checking out this beautiful and inspiring story.

I think it is best summed up in a quote from a book I’m reading right now:

“There is no better way to exert our artistic freedom than to serve others with it.”
